Are You Drawn To God?

Are You Drawn To God?

In John 6:44, Jesus said, “No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day.” So, if you want to be Jesus’ disciple and be raised to everlasting life on Judgment Day, you must be drawn to God. But, how does God draw you? And, have you been drawn to God?

How God Draws You To Himself

While there are many who would claim that this verse describes God’s direct action on your heart to cause you to follow Him, this is not the way God draws you to Himself. Consider what is said in verse 45:  “It is written in the prophets, ‘And they shall all be taught by God.’ Therefore everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to Me.”

So, as 2 Thessalonians 2:14 also states, God calls us to Himself through the message of the gospel, which is His power unto salvation for everyone who believes (Romans 1:16)! Similarly, Romans 10:17 says that faith comes from hearing and hearing by the word of God.

Just think! As you read the words contained in the Bible, you are not reading just any words – you are reading the words from God that He is using to draw you to Himself for salvation! But, are you allowing these words to draw you to God?

As you consider that God is using the message of the gospel to draw you to Himself, please consider whether you are drawn to its message – or whether Satan draws you to himself through the things of the world.

To Who He Is?

Are you drawn to the message of the gospel concerning who God is? Are you drawn to the fact that God is eternal, All-Powerful, All-Knowing, and Ever-Present? Are you drawn to the holiness and righteousness of God? Are you drawn to His love, grace, and mercy?

To What He Has Done For You?

Are you drawn to the message of the gospel concerning what God has done to save you from your sins? Are you drawn to God through the fact that He loved you enough that He was willing to sacrifice His only begotten Son on the cross so that you could have everlasting life in Heaven rather than being condemned to eternal destruction in Hell fire?

To What God Has Promised You?

Are you drawn to the message of the gospel concerning what God has promised you? Are you drawn to the fact that God has given you the opportunity to spend eternity in a true paradise that is beyond all human comprehension? Are you drawn to the fact that God has given you the opportunity to spend eternity in this place (Heaven) – as opposed to spending eternity in a place of everlasting torment and pain (Hell)?

Conclusion

God is drawing you to Himself through the message of the gospel. Do these things appeal to you? Or, are you so focused on earthly things that you are willing to sacrifice all of the things God is, has done for you, and promises so that you can pursue your own earthly pleasures?

Will you be what God wants you to be? If you are drawn to God through the gospel, you will be. If you have no interest in these spiritual things, you will simply reject the things He has commanded of you!
