Honor Jesus As Savior, Messiah, And Lord

Text: Luke 2:10-11

After Jesus was born in Bethlehem, the angel of the Lord appeared to some shepherds who were in the same region. Although they were initially terrified when the glory of the Lord shone around them, the angel told them not to be afraid. Instead, the angel was there to proclaim good news of great joy for all people – the news that Jesus was born, the one who is Savior, Messiah, and Lord! Then, they hurried to Bethlehem to see Jesus, shared the wonderful news with others, and glorified and praised God.

Sometimes we can lose sight of who Jesus really is and what position He wants to hold in our lives. If we are not careful, being a “Christian” can be little more than a title or worldview. However, Jesus did not come to just give us a particular worldview or to create another group of people. This passage is a reminder that the news of Jesus is transformative, as it calls for every person to truly make some decisions and changes to their lives! Ever since the birth of Jesus, then, people have had to decide what they will do with this one who is called “Jesus.”

Today’s response to hearing God’s word is this: Honor Jesus as Savior, Messiah, and Lord. Honor Him as Savior by recognizing you would be helplessly lost in your sins without Him, expressing your thanksgiving and praise to Him, and sharing the wonderful message of hope with everyone you can. Honor Him as Messiah by viewing Him as the one God had promised to provide great spiritual blessings through and living in full faith that results in obedience. And, honor Him as Lord by recognizing Him as King of your life who has complete authority to instruct you in how you should live, giving Him complete control over your thoughts, words, actions, relationships, decisions, religious practices, and all else. Hurry and do not delay to recognize who Jesus truly is and honor Him appropriately in your life!
